When Paul and I moved to Los Angeles, we realized we don't get many opportunities like this in life. So, we took the whole month of August 2009 off, packed up our little car, and drove all across the country. It was a fantastic trip. Our route looked like this:
Fun facts about the trip:
- We were on the road for 28 days.
- We travelled almost exactly 5500 miles and passed through 19 states.
- We kept a tight budget, and spent just about $3,000 for the whole trip including all food, lodging, and gas. (It helped that we stayed with friends and family for a good portion of the trip)
- We stopped at 23 different gas stations along the way.
- Our shortest drive was about 3 1/2 hours (Charlotte to Bluffton), and our longest was about 16 hours (Round Rock to Estes Park).
